As every parent on the planet knows, raising children can be very hectic at times. Most parents carry a heavy load—dealing with jobs outside the home, managing finances, keeping up with the endless housework, volunteer work, helping out with their child’s school and sports, you name it!
Finding humor in our daily lives
including handling child issues with humor, can help lighten this load.
For instance, chores can be made into games. (Our kids actually ask if we can clean the basement because we have certain games we always play when we’re down there picking up the mess.)
Also, when your child says or does something funny, it’s okay to laugh (most of the time, anyway). Laughing won’t usually undermine your authority with your kids if it is well established. And it doesn’t sabotage your efforts to help your child learn a lesson. In fact, it can help your kids learn to approach life more lightheartedly. Which in this day and age is likely a very good skill to have.
It’s probably not possible to overestimate the importance of having fun with your kids, and to be spontaneous with them. Click here for some ideas for
